You don't have to fox trot. There is basically Melee dash dancing, it just requires different muscle memory so people aren't used to it yet. I'm actually working on a video about it.

can you actually cancel stuff mid dash? nothing I tried was able to do small dash -> dash back

Is there a reason you can't just dash outside the range of their move and then use a turnaround tilt? You can act out of turnaround and dash on frame 1, and uptilt/dtilt are combo starters for a lot of the cast.

because you cant mix up your dash length, and ftilt/dtilts do not have enough range generally, and most chars aerials have way more range than say a fox nair, with added aerial mobility.

also, many aerials have 7 frame lag and HUGE range, imagine whiff punishing marth in melee, with no run up shield, no dash dance, no wavedash, only fox trot, bad grab/dash attack, and the marth has better aerial mobility .

I'm asking as someone who hasn't played the demo: i've heard mixed things about dash dancing. Is it in the game or not from your experience (or how is it different from melee i guess)?
