This isn’t discussed often, but TO’s improve through practice - just like players. A sponsor or new event partner doesn’t magically imbue experience. Making mistakes and reflecting on them does.

In smash its standard to have open feedback forms after an event, and publicize seeding early, and I really think this is somethint the FGC would benefit from.

I don’t fully agree with the seeding statement, but do agree that constructive feedback is always useful. I’m one of the guys generally requesting it.

I definitely feel like the consumer base doesn’t believe going through legitimate channels of communication for feedback actually does anything. Tournament organisers and game devs both.

Dev side I can’t speak to. TO side, most of our crop are hobbyists still refining feedback intake/response. Some are not great communicators in general as well. That’s a pain point. I do see events responding to (often conflicting) feedback though. Which is worth acknowledging.

This was actually about emerging TO’s in EU & Asia I’ve been working with. With that said, I’ve talked to CEO staff about feedback improvements and discussion formats this week as well. I haven’t been keen on the style of discourse that kicked up.
