    Wait... so the payback plan is trying to get hits in a game against their opponents?

    Some Padres were legitimately irked by the Giants' flouting of unwritten rules last night. Some were just surprised by it. Like: OK, if you're going to do that against us, we'll do it right back in the same spot next time. "Guess it's all fair game against them, huh?" one said.

    He's good. Doesn't have the chrome of Baz, but in the mold of Alex Cobb he knows how to pitch. Low/mid 90s fastball. Changeup and curveball play off the controlled fastball.

    Right-hander Tommy Romero is being called up to join the Tampa Bay Rays, sources tell ESPN. Stay may not be long-term, but Romero is part of a cadre of young Rays pitchers — Shane McClanahan, Shane Baz, Luis Patiño, Drew Rasmussen — expected to play a big role in the years ahead.

    Rays say Shane Baz underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow earlier today. He is expected to return to throwing in 2-3 weeks.

    These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG
