Its quite common at 13 years old, but its not common to do it in public. What the mother left out is the student was disciplined and probably suspended for his actions.

In the past the boy would have been sent for psychological help. This is not acceptable behavior anywhere out side of a monkey cage. The school is lacking in professionalism. The superintendent and anyone else that does not see a problem with how this was handled should leave.
