They have Trump dead to rights on their more modest COVID claim: He tried like crazy to diminish the virus, while it spread like crazy. It's a very simple, undeniable, and damning charge.

Very true. But they'll overplay their hand and give Trump an out

Yep. Biggest public policy disaster in decades and Trump looked the other way.

Another take. Scientists around the world weren't sure what we were dealing with. The Trump administration was trying to keep everyone from losing their minds because our media had already lost thiers. He was threading a needle. Unprecedented task.

How then did so many other countries thread that needle? Every time he draws focus to the outbreaks in places where it is under control he proves the point that he failed. See New Zealand most recently.

Yes, but he was also hearing things from people like Fauci who early on said Americans didn’t need to change their daily lives and could travel etc. So, I can understand why he hoped it was the case. Because up until then he was being told it wasn’t as big of a deal as it became

And like many I’m sure he thought the whole “15 days to slow the spread” was going to work and that would be it. Doesn’t excuse some of the other issues he had. But I can understand why he was skeptical to a degree.
