U N B E L I E V A B L E !!! I understand the young man’s desire to compete, but the coach should have intervened and either taken the forefeiture or withdrawn the entire team on principle. Then petitioned for the ref’s ouster. White allies must stand w POC to help end racism.

Exactly what I was thinking! Why didn't his coach and teammates stand by him? What a missed opportunity to teach these young people to do the right thing. Upsetting on so many levels.

This is ridiculous. Some people wear their hair a certain way because of their culture. Since when is that a reason to be threatened with having your match forfeited if you don't cut your hair right there on the spot. The ref needs to be fired for that.
