Are we certain that they eat rice? In a previous rook control program in UK, we found at post mortem study that the birds were eating bugs, not the crops. The farmer took some convincing! But relented when presented with the birds’ crop content. PM ducks to confirm?

Australian wood ducks and some other duck species eat grass. Rice is a type of grass. Ducks eat it.

Thanks for clarification. Geese eat grass and winter grain crops here. We are allowed to shoot some species - though not all.
