  13. You can't read/write w/out radicals + you can't speak/listen w/out knowing tones. In Chinese the same syllable can be pronounced in different tones to give a word different meanings. Ex: say the expression “excuse me” w/ the wrong tone you could accidentally say “to kiss”. 😅

  16. There is no Chinese alphabet. There are 10s of thousands of characters that must be memorized. 😱 But those characters are made up of ~200 radicals. When you relate characters to one another using radicals, you can learn more characters in less time.

    How I perceive language learning levels. A1: This language is amazing! I’m learning new stuff! A2: How do I say that? Wait, what? I can’t say it like that? B1: I can speak but hey don’t speak too fast! B2: Hold my cup I can talk now but don’t use too much jargon
