    Ah, damn. One of the great thrills of covering the Mets back when was getting to be friends with Rusty. He raised more than $100m for families of 9/11 victims. Also cooked one of the best dinners I ever ate. There’s never been another like him.

    Note: The Russian Federation is still actually banned from the Paralympic Games, which begin a week from tomorrow, and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency is still suspended by WADA for non-compliance.

    In an era of doping, TUE’s, eating disorders, abusive coaches of children striving for the holy podium, maybe we should broaden our view of what the Olympics is about to...oh I don’t know...just spitballing here...taking part, cultural exchange, fighting well? The Olympic Creed?

    Norway won 16 more medals than the U.S.—with half the athletes. Team USA must ask itself, How good do you want to be?

    WADA acknowledges the IOC’s decision to reinstate Russia in the coming weeks, but makes it clear the Russian Anti-Doping Agency is still non-compliant. IOC might be ready to move on, but WADA and IPC are not.
