I have a feeling you're being intentionally obtuse, but in case you're not...comparing the salaries of the crew vs those of the cast isn't a pay gap. Pay gaps are discrepancies in pay amongst peers. It's not a f***ing pay gap when you're talking about completely different jobs.

I'm being obtuse. People are not paid by their talent or effort. A ridiculously skilled electrician on set makes $30/hour while a handsome actor makes $30,000/hour. A super talented unknown actor might make $200/hour. They're all paid by bottomline value, not job title or skill.

People act as if actors are paid by skill level. It's not even close. @markwahlberg is the highest paid actor. He can't act. They're paid based on their ability to bring in paying customers. Octavia Spencer is amazingly talented, but she doesn't sell tickets.

That's right Lex, movies are a money making business. Actors sell those movies so they make the big bucks. But I think we already know this right? You seem pissed about something else entirely.

I'm the least pissed person on social media. The original article, now likely lost, was about the call for equal pay among actors. I was pointing out how that sounds lovely at the coffee shop, but makes no business sense. That was the entirety.

It was not a call for equal pay among all actors; it's a policy she personally has, and encourages, where actors with similarly sized parts pool their salaries & split them evenly.

Octavia Spencer is an Oscar winning actress with over 20 years experience in the industry. Even assuming your argument is true, that just makes the pay disparity more egregious.
