  Agree for its holiday, but it should be on its date in history to educate about the event & historical significance. Just as President’s day should be eliminated & Washington’s & Lincoln’s back to holiday status...would be NO holidays without these 2 men.

  Many in the private sector have already lost Presidents’ and Columbus Day. Labor Day marks the end of summer and NY Day is a day of rest - you don’t have to be hungover to appreciate it - most of us are exhausted from entertaining over the holidays. (1/1)

  Most people in general find it convenient to forget that the slave trade here started a very long time after warring tribes in Africa started the market. European merchants exploited the market providing slaves to the Colonies.
