The ruling just lets you choose whether or not you want you money to go to the union. Why do Democrats hate choice?http://hermancain.com/democratic-party-chairman-scotus-took-away-rights-of-american-workers-by-not-forcing-them-to-pay-union-dues/ …

um because it's more than that and you know it. Unions collectively bargain- so all workers get the benefits of the CBA- but this ruling permits those who benefit from the union's work (negotiating a good CBA, providing representation at grievance hearings,) without paying dues.

So you're saying folks won't voluntarily pony up? Guess the services offered by the union aren't worth much then...

regardless of the quality of services, people will take advantage and not pay, it's why we have compulsory taxes to pay for police, fire, and other government services. but I know that's not a right wing talking point- so you'll pretend to not understand.

So dues to a private organization (that contributes to political organizations and candidates) is now the same thing as being forced to pay taxes for public services? #HotTake

absolutely, if you take the job, knowing that a union and CBA are in place... sure. There are many places to work, not all of them, shoot most of them, don't have unions. Work somewhere else. but don't enjoy the protection of the union without paying into it.

So, if the union donates to Trump, and you're a rabid leftist, you should just "shut up and pay or get a new job." I say, you shouldn't have to pay. Because I believe in choice and free speech. ...But you do you.

please explain how the concept is different, logically? we pay taxes for benefits. One pays union dues for benefits. It is morally wrong to benefit from military, police, etc without paying, likewise it's morally wrong to benefit from union CBA without paying.

What other non government enities do you want to forcibly take your money? Should the NRA forcibly take your money because they protect your rights? Can someone you didn't hire paint your house amd just take the money they thinks its worth?

Now if you want to say that if unions have compulsory dues, they cannot donate to political causes, I'm fine with that, but remember, unions vote based on the majority of the membership, so if you don't like the donations- convince your fellow members to change.

I agree w/@JATmallet, his points are valid but I also hated my dues going to the Dems. I think the ruling is in favor of big business. It could’ve been written diff to prevent the money from going to the DNC if it wasn’t aimed at breaking unions.

Unions are far from perfect but they are for the working people: better wages, benefits and paid time off. Unions are only enemies of CEO’s and their Board of Directors.
