Public health experts say the plan to fight the AIDS epidemic is promising. But they warn other actions taken by the Trump administration — including proposed changes to Medicaid and cutting LGBTQ discrimination protections — could undermine those efforts.

From Nilson (2015) this figure lays out much of his taxonomy. "Only theories can explain mechanisms of change" Models and frameworks simplify or provide checklists. Which do you need in your work? Why? How would picking something else change your project?

Nilsen (2015) found "3 overarching aims of the use of theories, etc. in IS: (1) describing and/or guiding the process of translating research into practice, (2) understanding & explaining what influences implementation outcomes and (3) evaluating implementation"

I'm officially going to give Warren another look, given that she's the only candidate to come out of Iowa not acting like a damn fool.

Just a reminder that we've got another great article and discussion planned for Wednesday. Is anyone reading ahead? What jumps out at you about the theories and models described here? Which approach best suits work you have underway or are thinking about doing

Could some phoneticians who use R try out my readtextgrid package on their textgrids? It does only one thing (reads textgrids into dataframes). I've been using it for months, but testing from other languages/settings would help.

If you have 5-10 mins to spare please try this simple sentence completion task for my PhD student (you need to be aged 18-30, monolingual English-speaker, raised in the UK). Please share widely, thanks!

Also some posters off ebay from the ~80s about scientists who did things for NASA missions. (because all the current stuff is all about women in STEM and our camp is ~ 60-80%+ boys too)

we double checked our toys, books, posters, videos etc. We noticed that black people, contemporary black men in particular were under-represented in our science camp work and we tried to remedy that. It was harder than I expected. What resources do you turn to in YOUR work?

My lab runs a summer camp, ~ 33-50% of kids served are black. Last summer none of the SLPs serving them were black (not all were white ~ some were asian and latina). The kids noticed.
