There’s a difference between trying to get hit and KNOWING you are going to get hit and turning to get hit in a less painful part of the body...common sense needs to prevail here.

I don’t get the reasoning for an out. That was a ball. If anything keep him in the box, pitch is a ball no advantage gained. If hit in the strike zone it’s a strike. This is truly idiotic and nobody whoever coached, played or watched baseball came up with that rule.

Exactly right! A "baseball guy" didnt make this rule!

For one it’s a HBP. Ball was in enough to hit him. It’s like a catcher pulling ball in for strike instead of 2 balls off. But to call it a strike too. I don’t get what the umpire was thinking whatsoever. Late in game cold wants to go home???

You have to have the ability to protect yourself, while still having your right to your spot in the batter's box. BIG difference between a guy protecting himself like this, and someone dipping his elbow guard over the strike zone. Worst part is the umpire confirming a bad call.

Could not agree more. The batters box is the batters area, if the pitcher throws it anywhere inside of that box the batter should be able to do whatever he wants with it; stop rewarding non-executed pitches; would make this situation much more simpler
