If you enjoyed watching men risk permanent brain damage and broken bodies for a game that entertains you, but JLo and Shakira's clothing choices deeply offended you, there's a good chance you're the problem. Unpack that yourself. I'm not explaining everything to you.

Maybe it's cause I'm from the rez, but when someone says they are "part native" to justify some racist bull shxt I care more about calling out the Bull Shxt then be their enrollment officer.

James Baldwin in an interview (I think the one with Malcolm X) said that if diversity was the solution the American South would be the least racist place in America.

Oh I absolutely do not think we’ve ever been a functionally Democratic republic. That wasn’t even really a goal of the founders; they were a white supremacist patriarchy who wanted to set up a financially advantageous republic for themselves & fellow colonizers.

Ten years ago today, The Lancet retracted Andrew Wakefield’s fraudulent 1998 article claiming the MMR vaccine caused autism. He performed procedures on children unethically, paid kids at a birthday party to give him blood samples, and doctored data. He still claims he was right.

My pro-Trump family members are terrified of fascism (which they often incorrectly call socialism), and I realized the other day that this country has always been fascist re: brown bodies. We just don’t call it fascism unless White Christian bodies are (theoretically) impacted.

The amount of pro-white historical revisionism by American institutions makes me question whether we have ever functionally been a democratic republic. A state which actively engages in mass disinformation campaigns against its citizenry cannot in any meaningful sense be free.

Being excluded typically has little or nothing to do with the person being excluded. You’ve always thought it’s you, and it is not. When your parents don’t see or value who you really are, it is difficult to see or value your true self.

“losing/taking virginity” - turns sex into an object - places pressure on the decision - you don’t actually lose or take anything ? “sexual debut” - exciting - all focus is on u - suggests a musical number is involved

Yes, FUCK YOUR $2.75. No one should be arrested or fined because they can’t afford to pay a subway ticket. Yes, FREE FARE OR NO FARE. The crime is not being being unable to afford a ride. The crime is not doing anything to end poverty.

The ability to impact an organization financially is the only thing that's ever led to changes in racial policy in the US. Keep this in mind no matter what team wins today: Racial equality is still losing.

I'm seeing lots of talk about "surviving a dictatorship," which is cool. There's also "resisting a dictatorship," and we'd better get on it.

As a trained scientist and a self-taught artist, the strongest commonalities I see between science and art are the ways they teach and enable us to understand the world around us. Drawing hard lines between the disciplines denies their overlap. Many great scientists were artists

To expand and establish our human rights, Blacks (with a capital B) have not just taken the lead but stood in solidarity with everyone who genuinely seeks justice. For the next month, y'all can stand in solidarity with us.

The strides Black people in this country have taken towards equality were never meant just to benefit themselves but every marginalized group.

The legal definition of whiteness has expanded over the centuries for the express purpose of suppressing Black people, yet too often the term PoC is used to erase the Black experience.

A quick note about Black History Month: For the next 28 days I won't be using the term PoC. To be clear, anyone in the US who isn't white is a person of color.
