What makes this play so cool is that he only had 3 days of Pokemon experience period. He had only been playing Pokemon for 3 days.
Really cool for him to realize that in the moment, and really cool of to pick a team that allowed him to navigate game states like that

The Turn 2 by is one of my favorites of all time in VGC. He realizes that Dondozo will Protect no matter what, and switches in Torkoal to lock it down and make full use of all of his Trick Room turns, not wasting any of his momentum

Between Freezai's success and 's tournament last weekend I feel like I've learned a lot about
A) How players with high skill level in other strategy games can transfer that success to VGC
B) How a good coach can work with their player to unlock that success

I am extremely proud of what @freezaiYT accomplished this weekend. He came to me at the beginning of the year asking for coaching in preparation for Orlando, which was going to be his first VGC event EVER, and managed to be 9-0 and Top Cut the biggest regional of all time

It’s kind of insane that standings went up at 10:45pm, the call time is 7:45am, and they’re doing hack checks tonight. Can’t help but think that this event management is not the best for players’ health
