The represion against Ocalan is an extension of the genocidal policies of the turkish state against the kurdish people, as they did before with the armenian people. The movement was born to resist against this policies and fight an anticolonial struggle for national liberation.

The most important topic in the change of paradigma was brought by kurdish women movement, that grew inside the liberation movement. With the full support of Ocalan, the women developed their own autonomous structure inside the movement, bringing new perspectives and aproaches

With the slogan "no society can be free if women are not free", the movement changed their program, knowing that to overcome capitalism you have to get rid of nation-state, but to get rid of nation-state you have to overcome patriarchy, the base of all opresion in human societies
