This ideas can bring perspectives and important critics to reflect on. They also give guidance to understand how anarchist ideas are percived for the Kurdish Liberation Movement and to understand better the ideas of democratic confederalism that inspired the Rojava Revolution.

Abdullah Öcalan wrote this text isolated in a cell at Imrali prision. He was captured after being forced to leave Syria in a complot organized by MIT in colaboration with CIA, MOSSAD and other intelligence agencies. Such state forces collaborated together in the plot against him

The "Manifesto for a democratic civilization" is formed by 5 books, and this text can be found in the third one: "Sociology of freedom". The others are: 1 - Origens of civilisation 2 - Capitalist Civilization 4 - Civilization crisis in middle east 5 - The kurdish question

The represion against Ocalan is an extension of the genocidal policies of the turkish state against the kurdish people, as they did before with the armenian people. The movement was born to resist against this policies and fight an anticolonial struggle for national liberation.

This revolutionary movement fights for a free Kurdistan, at the beggining with a marxist-leninst understanding of struggle aiming to build Kurdish socialist state. After the collapse of soviet union the program was reevaluated with the expiriance aquaired in the years of struggle

The most important topic in the change of paradigma was brought by kurdish women movement, that grew inside the liberation movement. With the full support of Ocalan, the women developed their own autonomous structure inside the movement, bringing new perspectives and aproaches

With the slogan "no society can be free if women are not free", the movement changed their program, knowing that to overcome capitalism you have to get rid of nation-state, but to get rid of nation-state you have to overcome patriarchy, the base of all opresion in human societies
