Another 100 were at a storage business at Clark and Skyway. Still another group gathered at the Holiday Market parking lot on Skyway. Photographer Karl Mondon said at 4 p.m. the Safeway parking lot at Clark and Elliott roads was half full of evacuees.

Many said they knew their homes were lost. Wayne and Juanita McLish, 20-year residents of Fawndale Lane, said they fought for two hours to save their home until the water pressure ran out, then made it to Safeway.

Yes I think so. I used to live there-- the parking lot at the KMart is huge. The fires burned all around them on all sides--they sheltered in place at multiple parking lots. The Kmart is gone. I think most everything is gone. Even the hospital.
