Our region is no exception— our region continues to prioritize motor vehicle access while bicyclists and pedestrians are critically injured and killed on our streets. Often those injured and killed are the traditionally marginalized—elderly, minority and low-income folks.

  11. We’re in the midst of a pedestrian safety crisis. In the past decade, the number of people struck and killed while walking increased 35%. We’re building roads that prioritize high speeds for cars over safety for all people. (2/9)

  12. Yesterday was the State of the Union. But here’s the real state of transportation in this country: Despite billions spent every year, our infrastructure is crumbling. Roads & bridges are in disrepair while states spend more on expansion instead of fixing what we have. (1/9)

Happy Transit Equity Day! We believe that everybody—no matter where they live or who they are—deserves to live in a place that is healthy, prosperous, and resilient. That’s the world we’re working towards.

"Feet First's proposal, recently published in Seattle blog The Urbanist, is all kinds of smart, and borrows a lot from Transportation For America's nationwide call to repair America's transportation priorities before we throw more money at a broken system"

Love hearing about the New Urban Mechanics program team & their commitment to bringing failure & risk to local government. Also, appreciate the difference bet “experiments” vs “pilots” at cities.

Boston’s goal: Use curbspace to prioritize low-carbon modes. Why? Because Boston knows that the only way to become carbon neutral is to reduce car trips. Wicked smart! Pahk that cah!
