Contrary to some claims on social media, I did not say *anything* remotely disrespectful today about Elizabeth's death. I did not disrupt an act of mourning (and never would). My objection was to the proclamation of Charles Windsor as king.

Indeed. I can be vitriolic about the institution but I absolutely will not get drawn into that. Have absolutely nothing bad to say about the queen. It's the rotten British state, the institution of monarchy and the colonial legacy of empire which is what's disgusting

The proclamation is closely entwined with the death with the death of the Queen. What did you hope to gain from your protest other than a few likes on Twitter? How about having some respect for the loss of a great person, a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Go and live in a republic if you don't like it. France is just a hop across the water. Or there's Ireland and the USA if you want English-speaking.
