What happens to a store's biz if everyday 10-15 such incidents happen? Insurance cos will raise premiums if claims go up. Or, may opt out of this biz. Encouraging petty crimes results in emboldening them for bigger crimes.

The sad part is how many people are saying this is fine because corporations own chains of stores and "taking back from the billionaires is civil justice," ignoring the small businesses that AREN'T owned by corporations that have shut down due to massively increased shoplifting.

Like, do they legitimately not realize that the law has made larceny under $950 a misdemeanor in general, not only when stealing from a chain store? Or are they just being intellectually dishonest and ignore the ramifications of "sticking it to the man" in this case?
