Can I use a pseudonym? ;)

Why not? I intend to.

We shouldn’t all tell the same story. ;)
-
I think I have a different story.
-
Well I’m indeed sorry to hear that!

Worked for a call center for a fortune 500. Worked my way up to management. Planned a 3 week vacation (for my wedding) 18 months in advance. Got a new director, she said I couldn't have the time off and told me not to do anything stupid. I had documented all sorts of 1/x

Violations. Sexual harassment, work place bullying, financial info stored on unsecure servers, violations of federal employment laws etc. I resigned, and reported. 9+ people lost their jobs due to the corruption. I'm blacklisted now and have a crappy job but I can 2/

Sleep at night. I still get calls from my former employees wanting to know where I work because they want to come work for me. Doing the right thing isn't easy but man it sure feels good. Even today 5 years later!

Dang. Good for you. Cheers and love from me right here in the 208!

The worst management I’ve had shared a very similar trait. They ALWAYS prioritized their ego over what’s best for the company. They make selfish decisions that cost the company vast sums of money. It also results in the best employees leaving due to being marginalized.

Couldn’t agree more!

Absolute worst job atmosphere is non profits where employees answer to a board with no clear cut chain of command. It's hard enough to please one boss, much less trying to please 12. Especially when half of them have never had any actual work experience but have $$.
-
I teach nonprofit management so have a library of horror stories. It’s amazing how few nonprofits actually know how board governance works or how nonprofits are managed differently than for profits.

A Catholic priest who made hiring decisions based on people’s confessions (and let other staff members know it), and who casually insulted families who were behind on school tuition bills in staff meetings.

So much for priest-penitent confidentiality.

Not all priests go to heaven. Fact.
-
I suspect many don’t, sadly, and for far worse reasons than my experience.
