No company or researcher has ever demonstrated an ability to recover data from a drive written with 0s. Been tried with electron microscopy.

Even applying statistical methods to multiple direct readings of magnetic force doesn't get you anything. The data is gone.

@SwiftOnSecurity maybe true with magnetic drives. Not so sure about SSD. This is why OS X no longer has 'secure erase' for SSD machines. -
