The number one most common thing I hear from people who are depressed is "So many people have it worse than me." We don't need to fucking shame depressed people for being too self-absorbed, they are doing it themselves and perpetuating their depression

Thanks all for the positive response to this. I don't have a soundcloud, so check out my fiance's podcast which covers Kentucky politics

Really great example of how neurotypical people think you can rationalize your way out of a mental disorder. Doesn't really work like that.

I have clinical depression and anxiety. I recognize all the wonderful people and things in my life. How fortunate I am. Yet its also why I am so down. Depression makes me feel unworthy, like I don’t deserve it and I’m a failure. It turns all the good in my life into a poison.pic.twitter.com/tw0UQEYcPR

Ah yes, the good old "just stop being depressed" advice known to work just as well as "just stop having the flu!" or if we want to be more extreme, "just stop being disabled ffs"

Oh lordy... This is exactly what my mum pulls: "why don't you just try being happy?" Makes me want to scream.
