Because we haven't tried very hard so far, we're only starting to find out the scale of the effort this requires, from government, companies, and citizens. But it's essential for our future, long overdue, and, if done right, it brings multiple benefits.

The law refers to the EU monitoring mechanism (2013). Don't know the details, but it must include agricultural emissions. I would guess not 'trade-related' (if you mean ascribing the emissions to the consuming rather than the producing country).

Yes, every time a country or company takes a bold step, critics are busy telling them that it's too little and too late. I'd focus on the countries and companies not taking any steps though.
