Last year, 24,000 full-electric cars were sold in NL; that’s a market share of 5.4%. Brings total number on the road to 49,000 = 0.6% of total passenger car fleet.https://www.nos.nl/l/2266111

Assuming the 49,000 full-electric cars now on Dutch roads* use 2,500 kWh/year each (good for 12,500-15,000 km), they have driven up national electricity demand by ~0.1% *mostly parked, like all other cars ;)

So 100% electric fleet, ignoring technical improvements/urbanisation/mass transport improvements between now and then, would be less than 20% increase in electric demand? For entirely decarbonising road transport?

We use about 7500kWh per annum charging our car :) Plus often another 10 to 20kWh per week for EV friends visiting.

But they likely emitted over 490,000 TONS of embedded CO2 in manufacture b4 they drove a km. And emit 70% of particulates of ICE. #BikesNotEVs @StopKillingCycl

But it might not affect electricity *capacity*, if most of the charging is at low-demand times.

~21.000 of them being big and heavy cars like Tesla Model X, Tesla Model S and Jaguar I-Pace who drive much more on average (Taxi's, businesses etc.). Think the 0.1% is way to low.
