Critics blame at least some of Fort Lauderdale’s traffic woes on the development boom that’s seen a growing skyline dominated by construction cranes and new towers. But so far, a solution has eluded the powers that be at City Hall.

I've been told some government employees were unaware their salaries are public record. Let this story be a warning that they are indeed, like it or not. Taxpayers have a right to know what they are paying for, even if they have no say in the matter.

The new L.A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center on #SistrunkBoulevard played host to #FortLauderdale commission’s goal-setting workshop today. It’s a pretty building. We were on the third floor, right near a room full of people doing chair yoga. Colorful mural welcomes all.

Slight problem. The screen with all the info is behind the commission. says the commission can’t see the screen. Chairs now being moved to other side of the table. Problem solved.

Made 8 frantic calls last night in a race to get an answer to an editor’s very good question: Will Huizenga Park close for its $15M makeover? Three didn’t know. 5 didn’t answer right away. Thank you Steve Hudson for being the first to call back. And for having the answer.

How high can you go, #FortLauderdale? In this case, 22 stories, I'm told. Bahia Mar requested PDD rezoning today and got it. The plan: Four towers with 410 multifamily residential units plus a 256-room hotel and 88,000 square feet of commercial space.
