Even if you're inclined to believe Snowden had pure (or mixed) motives, his numerous lies are inescapable. http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-fable-of-edward-snowden-1483143143 …

so I go full apologist for you http://blog.erratasec.com/2016/12/your-absurd-story-doesnt-make-me.html …

This is so weird. 1. My tweet was general reference that had nothing to do with you; I have no idea how you feel about Snowden.
-
2. You post sets out and then refutes a list of strawman arguments, I have never made.
-
3. I don't hate Snowden. My views are too complex for Twitter, but are probably best described as pity and frustration.
-
he caught his own country breaking its own laws. He is a hero. Full stop.

It is equally possible that that piece has some obvious problems and that Snowden's story has holes AND that so does NSA's.
-
How much of that WSJ story you reckon is true? I'm tearing my hair out over liberal hypocrisy on re: the NSA. /1

I might wait for the book and do a review then. But there are claims in there that have been debunked/conflict w/HPSCI.
-
Which ones? Linked to debunking?
-
Just as an example, the HPSCI report doesn't show he took 1.5M. It includes 2 claims, one from DIA, one IC.
-
FOIAed docs make it clear DIA was deliberately written to be most damning.

As much as Snowden may have impure intentions, this article makes absolutely no sense?
-
Of course someone planning on fleeing the country will lie to their employer. Is this seriously being levied?
-
"Hi, I'm leaving the country to leak documents, and I know Chelsea Manning was tortured, but can I go?"

@munin I'm assuming it's unknowable at this point since I have no objective source to check statements against -
Which is usually a perfectly satisfactory outcome if you're attempting to discredit someone
-
He may be lying, the government and its representatives have a habit of lying, what exactly am I meant to do here?

No, actually, under US law it's "innocent until proven guilty" It's often impossible to prove what one didn't do. Burden of proof on accuser
