A small congregation met in Quinn's log cabin until the church was built in 1841.

News of the church's support for the abolition of slavery was not well received...& in 1862 the original church building was burnt down.

In 1867, the Bethel "mother church" was built, & played an important role in Indy after the Civil War.
@IndyNAACP was founded there. -
