She was born to enslaved parents in Louisiana, the first child in her family of 6 to be born after the Emancipation Proclamation.
She went on to move to @VisitIndy where she founded the Madame C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company, selling beauty and hair products.
She became one of the wealthiest African American women in the country, & one of the most successful African-American business owners ever.
The @walkertheatre on #Indiana Ave in @VisitIndy was the headquarters & manufacturing plant of Madam CJ Walker Hair Care & Beauty Products.
She was something special. So proud the theater in her name is in Indy!!
