Brown got his start as a minister in WWII as a @USArmy chaplain. He was a pastor at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church from 1947-1990.

In 1965, he joined his friend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to march in Selma, AL, & continued to fight for civil rights throughout his career.
