I am a relatively liberal. Until we hear from Mueller, impeachment is not first on my list — healthcare access, compassionate immigration policy, and climate change action are. OK, I have my helmet on ...

The Republican Senate already voted (100 to 0) in late December to keep the government open without any money for the wall. The Constitution allows them to override a presidential veto. They could reopen the government immediately just by voting for a bill they already voted for.

So Elizabeth Warren announces she's running. And already judgements come flooding in. Does she have a chance? Will she be a strong candidate? I don't know. Perhaps we should all just wait and see how the narrative unfolds rather than trying to predict what the narrative will be.

"(DJT is) concerned that if he makes a deal, his core political support will falter, and ... see him as inauthentic after he talked about a wall in rally after rally for three years." Hollering "Mexico will pay for it" isn't inauthentic enough?

Trump said Mexico would pay for the wall. Trump said he would take the mantle. Trump said he wouldn’t blame Democrats. Trump said he would be honored to own the shut down. So many words, so little honesty.

Trump is, above all else, a self-promoting entertainer. He's very good at it. Journalists think they're covering a president. They're really covering PT Barnum.

“...though Mr. Trump already had the resignation letter when he praised Mr. Mattis, he did not understand just how forceful a rejection of his strategy Mr. Mattis had issued.” I guess his big brain was on a break.

The state of the union is a chaotic mess tilting toward destruction. We are living out Trump’s personal dysfunction. Shame on members of Congress who privately confess they know Trump is a grave threat to the nation but who lack courage to stand up to him. Shame on them!
