Our SF home was burglarized at 3am with us & our 3 daughters sleeping upstairs! He’s a video of him leaving our house (came in thru back door). Stole laptops, iPad, wallet, purse & our youngest’s backpack which you can see on his back. SFPD came but said nothing would happen.pic.twitter.com/5IJnjF3drg

My friends were robbed twice in last 6 months while kids were sleeping and although they had videotapes the police said the problem is that the criminal may be arrested, get an ankle bracelet, but then will disappear and not show up for trial.

Don't they get a warrant if they don't show up to court? And then if they're ever stopped again or if a cop sees their car license plate, they would be taken in at that point? That seems like a pretty big reason to show up to court.

The way it works now is if the police catch him — which is unlikely (I was burglarized and they never did) — he gets booked and goes to a hearing where he’s released usually on an ankle monitor. With the video it is possible an officer might recognize him.

@chesaboudin new thing is video evidence isn’t strong enough evidence to file charges, he needs DNA evidence too.3 replies 0 retweets 2 likes
So he released them on ankle monitor and they often commit new crimes — like the case today of a guy arrested multiple times for felonies a released each time until he killed someone.pic.twitter.com/lTgZNa8Sjc
