    The survey also asked the public to judge the government’s behaviour using the 7 Nolan principles for standards in public office. Using MRP we can see the effect by constituency, and below, by region.

    An age effect (older people showing a higher level of concern about standards in public office) is found at the individual level, but even controlling for the age of individual respondents, MRP analysis showed respondents in older areas are more likely to express disapproval.

    Adding Keir Starmer to the tracker, the public are somewhat more likely to say the Labour Leader upholds the Nolan Principles than the Prime Minister and significantly less likely to say that he does not uphold Nolan principles. They are also more likely to say “don’t know”.

    Boris Johnson's 2019 election voters assign a negative rating to the PM for 5 of 7 Nolan principles. Honesty is a stand out. A majority -51% (+8) of CON 2019 voters do not believe the PM upholds the principle. Less than a third -32% (-9 since November) believe the PM *does*.

    On Boris Johnson, 63% (+8) told Survation the PM does not exhibit the principle of leadership. Just 1 in 4, said he does. 1 in 4 (25% -2) believe the PM upholds integrity & only 1 in 5 (20%) believe the PM upholds the principle of honesty, a fall of 5 points from a month ago:

    57% of the public believe Boris Johnson should resign, 30% that he should not. Nearly a third of those who voted Conservative in 2019 (31%) believe that Johnson should resign and nearly 1 in 5 (19.8%) of those indicating that they would currently vote for the Conservative Party.

    Sir. Keir Starmer has become the preferred candidate with Survation for "best Prime Minister" 39% (+7) for the first time since 6th October 2020. Boris Johnson is (-14) to 30% since October 7th, behind the answer of "don't know" on 31%.

    NEW on behalf of today: Labour have maintained their recently gained polling lead over the Conservatives at 39%, with the latter polling at 32%, a new low for the party in any Survation polling conducted since Boris Johnson became leader in July 2019.

    1) For the record, I think the 6 point Labour lead we've just published is well founded, judging by the follow-on questions we asked and I wouldn't be surprised to see these types of figures from others into the weekend.
