    1/2: Something deeply internalized as an economist that is useful transfer learning for being an ML engineer: models are useful but never capture complex reality so rejoice in what can be learned from them but invest in identifying what might be missing/wrong.

    The presentation contains so many excellent points on the complexities of applying that unwelcome sovereignty in a borderless Cyberspace. (side note: why don't we use that word anymore? Internet, web, online...all so boring in comparison. Let's recapture the true magic of it.)

    This "state of Tech" presentation is great, as always, from : One hypothesis is that the next Big Thing in tech isn't tech...but regulation. I get that. Another is that "ML is the new database" and I don't get that. Might need the Q&A vid.

    Still playing with ways to post a deck online. Linkedin bought Slideshare and killed it. Last year I posted a video of the slides with a voice-over, but that seemed too controlling - there was no 'next slide' button. This year: the images, plus a PDF.

    I'm thinking about putting together a document with links to lots of good, freely available resources for learning comp neuro. What would everyone suggest? Top of my head, I know about the Gerstner textbook, INCF training spaces, and notes just posted. What else?

    January tends to be a month of denial so I've been thinking about the cognitive load of scarcity mindset. How much energy should you devote to reducing potentially negative behaviors vs just embracing positive and accepting some negative? Hard question for me.

    Humans learn from curriculum since birth. We can learn complicated math problems because we have accumulated enough prior knowledge. This could be true for training a ML/RL model as well. Let see how curriculum can help an RL agent learn:
