I want to thank @POTUS for his leadership and dedication to ending the opioid epidemic. By declaring the opioid epidemic as a national health emergency, it has led to unprecedented amounts of money to fight the problem and is helping with treatment options. #CrisisNextDoor

It has also lead to a shortage of much needed I.V. Opiate pain medication in hospitals. Leaving patients to suffer. I speak from personal experience. I am currently in the the hospital and they admit to being short on I.V. Opiate pain meds. This is not helping anyone.

This epidemic was being fought years before his declaration. Numerous companies in the US have stressed the need to limit the amount of opioids that are prescribed.

Prescribers should be starting with NSAIDS and ramp up if the NSAIDS are not effective. Prescribers have allowed the patient to dictate what they want vs. what they need.
