As we work to end the #opioidcrisis, we need to focus on prevention. It is important that we look upstream. We have a lot of work to do to help the public understand that this crisis touches everyone.

You have a lot of work to make up for all the damage you’ve caused w/this conflated “crisis”. You need to acknowledge it for what it is, an ILLICIT drug crisis. Right now all that’s happening is Chronic Pain Patients are being screwed over & addicts are not being helped.

Not only is this sending law-abiding patients now to the street, but increasing numbers of suicides caused by lack of or under-treatment of pain & deaths from the risks of illicit street drugs. And CDC guidelines are treated as laws instead of GUIDELINES.

That’s not what they’re saying at all & your attempt of an overreach is ignorant. It isn’t about “flooding the market w/more opioids”. It’s about chronic pain patients that were taking meds as prescribed to live a more functional life that are now being treated as criminals.

To “fix” the “opioid epidemic”, we need to focus on the real issue - illicit Fentanyl & heroin. The current actions being taken are hurting patients & not helping addicts.

This is what the current OPIOPHOBIC rhetoric is doing to people in pain. We have become acceptable collateral damage. Unacceptable! This is a illicit drug/heroin/& Fentanyl analogue issue. Stop generalizing because it's killing people. #ShareOurPain #WeR1 https://medium.com/@ThomasKlineMD/suicides-associated-with-non-consented-opioid-pain-medication-reductions-356b4ef7e02a …

Agree with @Surgeon_General that education of the general public is paramount in combating #opioidcrisis . Praying for adequate action to be taken by both government and #communityorganizations. Congratulations once again for your ongoing efforts

Too bad the only education being put out is the incorrect conflated data attempting to lump Rx opioids w/illicit Fentanyl & heroin, leading only to demonizing of Rx opioids, hurting law-abiding patients, & not helping addicts.

Do you think the public understands this! Do you think the government understands this? Obviously, not! Instead of focusing on illicit fentanyl, the government focuses on Drs & pharmacists & restricting legal pain medications & pain patients are treated like criminals. Why?pic.twitter.com/cY1rGXEwkU
