As the Surgeon General, I am focused on putting naloxone in the hands of first responders and community members, educating the public about the severity of the epidemic, destigmatizing addiction, and preventing addiction before it starts. #SPHDSS18

I support this effort but please remember there are so many Americans with chronic pain that only opioids can effectively treat-I have DJD, Interstitial cystitis and migraines-the pain can be excruciating

Please remember that millions of Americans rely on pain medication to have some normal level of function not to get high.

Narcan will not end the Opioid epidemic~it’s recidivism for drug abuse

It’s a crucial first step to stopping the effects of overdose. Widespread access to narcan in the hands of users, family, and friends is extremely important to stopping the 46 people who die every day from opiate overdoses https://www.cdc.gov/drugoverdose/data/overdose.html …

Keeping people healthy would prevent addiction. Addressing the asbestos crisis would keep more people healthy.
