So when the public uses them, they don't work, so don't buy them. Besides we need them for health care workers, because they will get sick without them. This doesn't add up.

The people never listen and the media coverage doesn't help. The media continues showing people wearing masks. The whole thing is pathetic. How about the fact that everyone is more worried about Covid-19 and not worried about the more rampant and deadly FLU!

Covid19 has a fatality rate of about 2-2.5 %, flu only 0.5%

I doubt the masks know the difference between care givers and general public so your statement does not make a lot of sense. I suggest you get a team together to make sure medical staff in every state get the safety equipment they need.

There are other reasons health care professionals need to wear a mask-like so they dont get the flu from patients? Or other illnesses.

Wait! You say health care providers should have them, but not the general public.

Because healthcare workers are in close proximity to people who actually have the disease. The chance of you or I either wearing them properly or being surrounded by sick people is very small.
