This weekend marks 1 year since the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California. I’m proud of the work done by our #USPHS #CommissionedCorps officers, who provided critical mental health services to displaced residents and those in crisis.
My fellow officers screened & helped care for a diverse array of vulnerable people, provided specialized counseling, and supported development of behavioral health training programs for impacted populations.
Despite the tragedy, our officers witnessed an incredible spirit of recovery and rebirth. One of the then-shelter residents drew this phoenix with the words “Paradise” and “Magalia” – affected areas of California. #SaturdayThoughtspic.twitter.com/4UM0IPYs0J
