(1/5) For this #SundaySpotlight, join me in commending our state and local health departments who helped stem what @CDCgov's MMRW identified as the most 🇺🇸 cases reported in a single year since 1992. #SundayThoughtshttps://bit.ly/30PdSjY

(2/5) Make no mistake— #measles is a serious illness: It’s often mild, about 1/3 of the cases develop serious complications and ~ 1 in 1,000 die from those complications. More via @WSJ:https://on.wsj.com/2oOdsgH

(3/5) #DYK that we almost lost our #measles elimination status? Such a loss would have been a huge blow to the U.S., costing our economy millions of dollars and years of work and tainting our image as a global health leader.https://bit.ly/2Om6Voc

(4/5) As @CDCDirector stated, “Our Nation’s successful public health response to this recent measles outbreak is a testament to the commitment and effectiveness of state and local health departments, and engaged communities across the country.”

(5/5) Let’s use this #PublicHealth moment to educate others and ensure elimination is sustained. We must combat misinformation and engage our communities. Remember: Vaccination is one of the easiest things you can do to protect your family & loved ones. #VaccinesSaveLives!
