My office has been reporting on the health hazards of smoking for more than 50 years. Glad to build on these efforts and work w/ @FDA_US & @FDACommissioner on strengthening the warnings on these dangerous products.https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-proposes-new-required-health-warnings-color-images-cigarette-packages-and-advertisements-promote …

SMOKING (not tobacco) causes disease and death. If you want to save lives, stop conflating "smoking," "tobacco" and "nicotine" and repeatedly correct those who do. The misinformation confuses people (often deliberately), causes harm and sadly keeps some smoking and dying.

The #1 way to save smokers is to have them switch immediately to vaping. But you advocated against communicating this. You believe in harm reduction for those you care about, and evidently smokers didn't make that list (you tweeted about making it harder for them to get jobs).

50 years!!! I wonder if we’d be having this conversation right now if all the cigs were low nicotine 25 years ago?

As an ex smoker I would have probably smoked twice as much to get the same amount of nic. Probably would be dead by now cos of it. Thank god for vaping. Smoke Free 6 years now.

#dyk medical errors caused by dogmatic clowns who Dunning-Krugered themselves into the medical profession are the leading cause of preventable deaths in the US. It looks like "dr" Adams fits the profile to the letter.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

? It’s imperative we do all we can to communicate the risks of cigarettes to both smokers and nonsmokers.
