More residents finishing yesterday and new interns starting Monday, so here’s another of my #tips4newdocs: Speak/be nice to EVERYONE you work with- not just the docs/ nurses. Janitors, cafeteria workers, and administrative staff often feel ignored by us, but can save your butt!

One of my most memorable moments when named SG was the goodbye reception @EskenaziHealth held. There were more “support staff” there than clinical ones- a 2hr line! So many of them said, I’ll never forget you, because you always said hi to me. A little kindness goes a long way!

You should be nice and civil to everyone, because it’s the right way to behave. Not because they “can save your but”. .

Completely agree! A) Was just hoping that was understood/ implied B) When your tired/ post call/ busy (and inclined to ignore people), it’s sometimes helpful to understand we’re all in this together, and what goes around comes around! 😉

Congratulations to all the new interns & residents. You have worked hard to get to this point of your training. You cant do it alone. The SG is correct. Teamwork & being nice(like being a mentor & smile to others) brings postive mental health. @SaulLevinMD @APAPsychiatric

Speak and be nice to chronic pain patients you may see as well. They are not addicts, but human beings whom are suffering

We need better pay and better hours for residents. We need to de capitalize healthcare. We need to repair billing and coding that drives doctors away from patients. Then burnout will reduce and people won't be assholes to new interns. We need ALL doctors to engage in the above.

For it is with dignity and respect that we should treat others. We should never make anyone feel beneath us and we should never make ourselves higher than anyone.
