We’ve said this many times and will keep saying it- there are NO shortcuts to safer opioid prescribing! 👇🏽https://twitter.com/HHS_ASH/status/1143499561392103424 …

Bottom line – neither the @CDCgov guidelines nor @HHSgov advocate taking #opioids away from those who truly need them. The guidelines focus on improving the way opioids are prescribed to ensure patients have access to safer, more effective chronic pain treatment.

Basically Surgeon General is saying doctors better practice safer prescribing. Then points to something that says the guidelines weren't intended to harm patients. Then allows DEA to continue to go rogue on everyone. So...????? It's called passing the buck. #opioidhysteria

How can you leave people suffering like this? My blood pressure is erratic thanks to you. Are you going to be here for me when I stroke out? No.

Doctors and pain management clinics are profit driven. Thus, they don't have the time to explain safety precautions with opioids. Ten minutes for a visit to explain why I hurt from a complex syndrome is inappropriate care. I am in an 8 today with no pain medicine.

I can not exercise without knowing I have pain meds to use if I dislocate a joint. This is cruel and you are being held responsible.

That's because the only moral shortcut is what's been happening for generations. Even in the 80's, despite the intelligent plea for doctors to treat pain with opioid medicine, no doctor handed pills out "like candy." Patients were cautious. The "over prescribing" idea is a myth.

I'd love to have a one on one conversation with you, people are suffering immensely because of the DEA and the guidelines. I don't know how anyone in good conscience can sit back and do nothing. I'm sickened by my government over this.

When will you encourage ALL doctors to make legal medicine EASILY ACCESSIBLE to pain/addiction patients dying every day? How do forcibly tapered patients return to their lives? Saying "I didn't intend that" isn't a solution. Access to opioid medication did NOT increase addiction.

How is “access” improved if doctors are afraid to prescribe & if the DEA continues to cut supply? The stigma which NOW surrounds “opioids” is a barrier- yet to be addressed. As a disabled individual, I have NOT had easier access to my meds b/c of CDC guidelines. @Surgeon_General

WAR ain’t FREE. If you enjoy the freedoms many were brave enough to fight and sacrifice for then follow up necessary medical care shouldn’t be an issue. Don’t punish service and sacrifice for the crimes of others. Vet suicides 23+ daily. #abandoned
