I’ve said publicly- new generation ecigs are discreet, come in flavors that youth report are especially appealing, and deliver nicotine more efficiently and effectively than previous generations. As the Nations Doc and a dad, I’m VERY concerned about skyrocketing youth use.
While ecigs might under certain conditions be a means for current adult smokers to quit, right now a substantial proportion of users are actually young people who previously haven’t used nicotine. After years of declining youth tobacco use, we are seeing increases due to ecigs.
Providers need to learn about these products, ask young people and their parents about ecig use and vaping, and counsel on the unique harms of nicotine to the developing brain. See my advisory at http://surgeongeneral.gov for more info.

All of these things have existed from the beginning. Devices started out as very small, with discreet vapor. Flavors were always around, because there is demand and always will be. Dose efficiency has improved, as opposed to higher mg/ml before.
There is no Skyrocketing youth "use". Youth would be smoking cigarettes if it wasn't vapor, just like every generation for as long as time. When I was in high school, we had a smoking area for students, nearly 80% of high school students smoked. Shut up.

I’ve seen Vape Products advertised on Cable TV. This shocks me as we banned Cigarette ads decades ago. Why is this advertising being allowed? Shouldn’t be.
