2/4 C-section pain can be severe and impede the ability for a new mom to care for her baby and/or herself- but opioids are often not the best option. @WSJ reports most hospitals sent new moms home with a prescription whether they asked for one or not. #OpioidAwareness
3/4 But some hospitals are changing their processes and instead treating new moms with regularly scheduled & higher doses of over the counter pain meds (like Tylenol and Motrin), and successfully reducing the amount of opioids needed/ given – in the hospital and at home.
