When used correctly for acute or chronic pain, opiates are an excellent pain reliever. There's no limit on the amount that can he prescribed (per FDA), because opiates not containing Tylenol do not kill the kidneys or liver like Tylenol does. Less than 1% get addicted...continue

If you are susceptible to addiction, then that's when it occurs. Addiction destroys lives..pain medications for acute or chronic pain patients improve their lives..prescribing has declined...just talk to the thousands who have been denied their meds..

30 years ago I was prescribed hydrocodone cough syrup when I had a bad case of bronchitis as a high school junior. The doctor didn’t even mention that it was an opioid, let alone warn of any side effects or potential for abuse or overdose. Which, of course, happened.
