So pleased to introduce this great group of advocates (a young lady w chronic colitis, an oral surgeon, a mom who lost her son to overdose, and an substance misuse educator) to ⁦@HHS_ASH⁩ to discuss making alternatives to opioids more readily available to patients!pic.twitter.com/1DhDsd3sLb

With all due respect Surgeon General, why is there not a parent/relative that has lost a loved one due to being denied opioid pain medicines? There are millions of Americans being affected because pain medication has been demonized. Please do the right thing and include them.

Why not a person who is now disabled & unable to work or go back to school bc pain treatment stopped. Severe cervical spinal stenosis, lumbar stenosis, caused by incurable, progressive disease, spinal cord damage, & not even able 2 shower by myself without pain treatment.

I am so sorry for anyone who loses a child to an overdose. That doesn't mean opioids are bad for everyone else in the world. I'm tired of seeing these parents used for someone else's agenda. If the young lady CHOOSES another way treat her colitis pain, great. Now...

...A Substance MISuse Counselor? That's just a new job for nosy people with God complexes. And I woke up from a nightmare about going to a dentist and receiving no pain medication. People are already afraid of dentists. So now I'll never get the root canal I need. Good job!👏👏👏

My pain is pure black evil from the depths of Hell. I have been in bed 27 months due to idiots that think there is some magical alternative to opioids for failed fusions with a roll cage and hardware from L2 down to S1 and the #Gadolinium you disabled me with in MRI contrast!

How about let's keep what works for 99% of the chronic pain community? How about stopping the forced tapers that ate leading to suicides & ppl being forced to the streets? How about solving the real issue of illegal fenytnl coming over the border? Need more?

RX opioids are the safest and most effective way to treat pain. The most dangerous and least effective ways involve NSAIDS and and questionable medical devices. The #OpioidCrisis is just a rebranding of the failed half-century old War on Drugs.

Chronic pain patients already use many of these alternatives in addition to their pain medicine because, for many of us, these alternatives alone don’t give us the necessary functionality. Long-term use of opioids under the care of a physician is safe and effective.
