Yes, issues are complicated, but good policy requires getting facts right. Facts are that marijuana arrests of ADULTS go down dramatically with legalization. So if you think mass criminalization and racialized enforcement is big problem, legalization has been a big solution.
Mr. Berman, the belief that legalization may lead to lower arrests for some (again must caution against hyperbole) doesn’t mean it is the only or best way to get to social justice for most/ all, and definitely doesn’t mean there won’t be unintended health/ societal consequences.
So are you saying that we should maintain the practice of arresting over 650,000 people a year (FBI Data) for marijuana related crimes?

Thanks for reply, and I agree w/ spirit of your comments. But, based on state data, it appears legalization reform is a policy change that consistently reduces total MJ arrests. Total arrests may not be key policy concern for some, but basic facts here should not be obscured.
