1/7 Sunday Spotlight: Important read before surgery-> No one goes into an operation hoping to be on opioids a year later. But too often, opioids are excessively prescribed. Up to 75% of patients, if not more, after surgery have leftover painkillers.https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2019/02/12/doctors-limit-prescription-opioids-surgery-pain-reduce-addiction-patients-column/2766756002/ …

20 years ago I had a bilateral mastectomy - immediately developed
#CRPS, a horribly#painful#incurable disease. Doc tried everything - life greatly improved thanks to opioids. I am bed bound now that they’ve been taken away. Why have we lost access to meds that reduce suffering? -
I'm sorry for the pain and hurt you've been through I had no idea about the details til now

Our country desperately needs a message to all physicians, ins companies, pharmacies, Congress, our state Senators & Reps; that people who opioid medication truly helps, as all else failed or incurable, continue to have access & are not forced tapered or denied medication. Please

I'd add DEA to the list. This agency is terrifying good drs. No dr wants to prescribe more than their peers for fear of drawing attention. Thus, the prescribing dose continues to become lower. Too many patients are prescribed an inadequate dose or none at all. I'm now homebound

Thank you for speaking the truth that opioids are the best choice for some. Many incurable & intractable pain disease patients are suffering from under treatment as well as being abandoned by doctors when this is their best treatment. We must not lose sight of this going forward.

If you are sincere then please fix this! Many of us have horribly painful uncurable diseases or suffer from horrific injuries and we NEED these medications to have ANY QOL! What is happening is CRUEL & INHUMANE

You:”The truth is, opioids are best choice for some, but generally, people/society fare better when providers practice opioid sparing regimens” REALLY? How are pts/society doing better when pts are suffering w/ 24/7 pain? What opioid sparing regimes are better w/ pain control?

My thoughts exactly! I was on SAME STABLE HIGH DOSE FOR EIGHT YEARS WITH SUCCESS!
